HISTORY
The 1600 series was the first all steel body Packard. This car was owned by a family in Washington for many years. He was a Boeing engineer. Our clients acquired the car in 2009 from the owner’s widow. The body and chassis were restored around 2011. Our clients decided, at the time, the engine was okay, but would need work in future. The future arrived. The clients have taken this time to replace old brake lines and deal with some slight steering problems as well.
OUR APPROACH
The original block had a water jacket crack. A year correct, used, block was found. This block was overboard .030 with new pistons and rings installed. Valve seats were ground, and hardened seats installed. New valves, valve guides and lifters were also installed. The camshaft was reground. The crankshaft was also ground and oversized crank bearings and main bearings were fitted. The oil pump was rebuilt, and all seals were replaced.
